In todays lesson we watched the trailer to the quiet place. This was good to watch as it gave us inspiration for making our owns trailers. In the quite place it is all about making no noise and keeping safe from the creatures that will kill you if you make a sound. This trailer includes dramatic music, bold titles preparing the watcher for what is next to come and lots of emotional scenes letting the watcher know that this is a thrilling movie to watch. In todays lesson we also made our own trailers me and Grace used the doors in the tunnel and the dark lighting to make ours effective. Using lots of different backgrounds segments and clips we took today should hopefully make the final result of out trailer come out very good. 

After, in todays lesson Wednesday the 2.12.10 me and Grace completed our edit on the door and put it together to present to the class. We made sure we used the right scenes and different words in the intertitles to make it more engaging and interesting. Overall, it came out very well and we got to present 'The Door' to the class!

2. Analyse how far the extract creates a humorous view of policing. In your answer you must:

Example of how to answer on camerawork:

•   sweeping aerial shot of Brighton pier connoting a glamorous seaside location

•   bird’s eye view of the small police car driving through

  the streets of Brighton on a call-out, carrying connotations such as danger, excitement, and urgency

•   the use of an over-the-shoulder shot of the beach sign, as we arrive at the sign at the same time as the police officer, connoting surprise and anticipation of what is to come

•   slow pan / track of the new recruit police officers as they are introduced to the audience connoting authority and power

•   high angle long shot of the beach scene showing the police officer outnumbered by the group of men on the stag do

•   any other relevant analysis

• Q1. Camera work is used to create meaning by different techniques. For instance, the arc plan shot is used when the girl is taking her clothes of trying to make it seem like the police officer is 'sexually touching her'. Causing excitement for the viewers as the camera work goes around her body showing the full views of what she sees and what the police man is trying to do to stop her. Another type of camera work is the birds eye view shot, they use this to show the full view of the police car driving through Brighton. This is used well as you can see the speed of the car, where its going and everything around it. This shot is causing excitement and looks dangerous as it seems like the car is driving dangerously fast. 

• Q2. This extract takes policing views to quite a far and humorous extent. Such as, the police have been called for a job of these two girls who have robbed a shop, the police men came to the scene as soon as possible and tried to block them off whilst they were trying to run away. The officers managed to catch them and put them in a situation where they had no where to run to.  But smartly played the robber took advantage of the new recruit and started to take of her clothes and pulled the officers hand towards her barley clothed body making it seem like he was forcing her to take of her clothes and sexually trying to touch her. Many viewers would find this funny as the police officer was stunned and had no idea what to do next. 

• In conclusion, this scene makes the policing seem humorous as the women easily knew that by making the police man look like he is sexually assaulting her they would have a defence for what they were doing and a way to try and take the blame of them and put it onto the officers. Also, the other lady filming the police officer 'assault' her, would of been seen as humorous as you can tell before the video was taken that she was forcefully forcing him to put his hand near her almost naked body but as soon as the camera turned on the people seeing the video would have no clue whose in the right and wrong, making it funny for the police man to struggle getting her arrested. This scene is also seen as humorous as the police are supposed to be seen as the people who sort out the trouble and people in charge so to see two girls make a mockery out of them can make the scene seem humorous.

1. An example of a woman in the newspaper could be the one Wearing lingerie in an advert normally in a corner of the paper. It’s normally in the corner as its not a very important thing and shows its not the most interesting part of the common news. Having a woman model could make the public find the newspaper more ‘attractive’ and for women viewers they might be interested in buying the product showing as they think it looks ‘so good’ on the model.
2. In the second magazine another example of a woman represented is the Queen. In contrast to the first example she is the ‘main’ headline and focus for the public to read about as she is known by many people. The Queen is portrayed as sad and maybe angry as the photo is quite dark as she doesn’t seemed to happy.

The use of entertainment in the online world helps people to enjoy things they like to do, relax and have fun. For instance, in the Lego movie video game the entertainment standard is very high. With lots of challenges, new levels to unlock and new characters to play with makes the video game fun and exciting. Having lots of challenges and new levels to play keeps the gamer hooked and looking forward to what’s next, which is providing them with entertainment and a fun, long lasting game for them to play. Also, including new characters makes the gamer want to play more so they can try out different skills and tricks with each character keeping the game going and the player entertained.

Another gratification is an escapism, the Lego Movie video game also includes this. The game is a fun, non-realistic and intriguing. Playing the video game helps the person leave the ‘real world’ and feel like they are included in the video game, this can be by completing challenges, playing with different characters and learning new tricks. All of these escape the player from the real world by doing things they wouldn’t normally be doing. Escapism is a key thing in the game as it excites the player as they are not doing boring day to day work and they are enjoying the fun and thrill of doing different challenges and tasks. 

Music video comparison- IW

In the different music videos the camera technique is used differently to tell a certain story. For instance, in teenage dirtbag the cameras are focused on the certain person the song is talking about. So, when they talk about the girl ‘Noelle’ they show her on camera, when they talk about the jock who’s the girl’s boyfriend they show him on the video acting all tough and big. Also, in the video they use some split screens showing two or more scenes at once. The camera content in teenage dirtbag is clear and they have set the camera up instead of moving with the band. Whereas, in Sk8ter Boi the camerawork is fast as they follow the girl going through the streets and alleyways. During the music video they mainly show her and have a couple people in the back as part of her ‘Gang’. Although they are both very strong, upbeat music videos there is a very big difference through the themes. In teenage dirtbag its set in a high school with the band playing around them and they include all the students as ‘fans’. Then in Sk8ter Boi the video is set in a busy town/street where the girl is trying to show that she doesn’t care and that she is reckless as she smashes a car window at the end of the video. Overall, they are both good music videos with a clear setting of what the ‘story’ is about.

Comparison of media language in MOJO and We Love Pop

The layout of MOJO is organised which connotes (=has associations of) it is an orderly and well put together. By contrast, the layout of We Love Pop is...chaotic which connotes it is a happy and fun magazine. These are both well designed magazines but you would assume the We love pop magazine is aimed for younger people.

The typography of MOJO is bold, certain colours and all majority kept in the same font which connotes (=has associations of) it is keeping the same vibe and showing of its main purposes. By contrast, the typography of We Love Pop is colourful, big letters and scattered across the magazine which connotes the magazine is fun and has lots for the reader to see and read.

The layout of MOJO is very fixed where you have enough space for the headline and title as well as the photo and the CD which connotes (=has associations of) it’s showing that’s it very fixed on getting people attention of the band. By contrast, the layout of We Love Pop is very close together and is filled with pictures and big writing which connotes it wants the audience to view all of the fun and cool things the magazine has inside.

The colour palette of MOJO is limited to pink blacks and white which connotes (=has associations of) it is trying to keep to a theme and putting the most important things in the right colours. By contrast, the colour palette of We Love Pop is lots of bright colours such as pink, blue and yellow which lets the reader see all that is important of the magazine.

In the first five minutes you can tell that the show is a catchy, fun and thrilling thing to watch, with fun introduction music. In it black and white it starts with a scene at the beach and a man coming out the sea going into the ‘town of no return’. Then you meet Emma Peel and John Steed who I believe are in a relationship. As after he enters her room he gets his fencing stick and joins her which shows to you that they are fun and like to play with each other.  As soon as you meet Emma you can tell she is a strong woman who is determined and doesn’t give up as she is practicing her fencing and doesn’t stop when John comes in. You can see that John is shown as to be one of the charming men in the 1960s as he impresses her as soon as he walks in. The relationship between the two in the scene shows that they like to flirt and be around each other. So, in the 60s this we be a good thing to watch as its intriguing and fun also the characters are shown as the popular types in the 1960s.

Police Procedural

The police procedural, or police crime drama, is a subgenre of procedural drama and detective fiction that emphasizes the investigative procedure of a police officer or department as the protagonist, as contrasted with other genres that focus on either a private detective, an amateur investigator or the characters who are the targets of investigations. Shows that are like this are silent witness, money heist and 9-1-1. They all include tense plot twist, crime scenes and normally people breaking the law or doing things they shouldn’t.

People like these types of films/ shows because some of them are true story based and just very catchy and intriguing. They include engaging and thrilling scenes which make people want to watch. With police sconces, crimes and lots of drama.
