We look at current news articles about the BBC and return to the OCR fact sheet on the television industry.  

According to The Times newspaper this week,  watching TV live and in real time accounts for most TV viewing.

     1. What do you understand by the terms 'live' content and 'on demand' content? 

Live means you have to be watching it as its being filmed, during the moment. Whereas, demand means that you can watch something on your demand after the live stream has come out the content may be published on the owners site where people can watch the content on 'demand'. 

      2. What is the demand for 'live' content like? 
The demand for live content is strong as  because people look forward too certain shows at certain times and people like to watch live shows as a family event straight after the live show has been released. 

      3.According to ratings research, there are 8 programmes cited as the top live shows for family viewing. How many have you watched?
I have watched Britain's Got Talent, Masked singer, Strictly Come dancing and Paddington 2 so 4/8. 

     4.Apply Blumler and Katz's audience framework to what you learn from this article
This article uses the framework of entertainment of having the programmes go live then after on demand. Also, includes forming strong relationships and connections. As well as the social interaction by watching the programmes live with family and bonding as your spending time together through out the duration of the programme. Nearer the end of the article it also exclaims that people are saying that there is a big importance of live and on demand TV as it helps you connect to the society especially during lockdown.
